I just completely used the EQ in the app since it has a 31-band EQ compared to my DAC that only has 10-band EQ. I've even turned off the EQ on my external DAC because it somehow messes up the output from the Boom 3D. The audio coming out of my over-the-ear headphones just feel lifeless without this app. Those who are claiming that it's a gimmick or undermining its wonders are those people who haven't used it at all or don't know what they're talking about. I've been on trial for 20 days now (it offers 30-days trial) and I'm planning to purchase it once the trial ends. So with good headphones and good sound source, they will make the sound worse, but with crappy headphones/speakers or crappy sound source, the artificial clarity can help to make the sound better sounding.ĮQ profile on the new 14" MBP(and i assume for other devices it has listed) on boom3d is nice tho.Ĭan confirm this. It will lack something in expense of something else. It does not add real detail, it just separates the bands by adding gaps in between, making some details sound less and some stronger, overall making the illusion of clarity.Īll these methods to add clarity, details or widening messes up with the sound source and it no longer sounds like it is supposed to. It likely uses dynamic EQ/filters that has tons of sharp spikes to create clarity or something similar to that. Its like adding tons of sharpening on a photo, it might look good in a certain setting if the image is viewed small, but if you look at it up close(with good headphones), you will see that its actually worse when it comes to details, even tho a low resolution photo(with bad headphones) with it might look better. However using it on proper sound source, just makes it sound artificial to my ears and even tho you might be getting some more details, it comes for the expense of others. Sure if you are listening to crappy sound sources that lack fidelity, then artificially adding fidelity can improve it a bit, or if you have shitty headphones that cant properly play details. Yea well i have studio headphones also and produce music. When you’re playing a game or watching a movie, you’ll listen to every detail with no distortions of any sort." You won’t hear that annoying hiss filter or white noise when you turn the volume up. And the great thing about it is that it increases the volume non-destructively. Quote from Boom 3D company: "This tool works wonders for those who are up for an intense listening experience. I have been using my headphones on maximum volume with Boom 3D for many years and I never ever damaged anything. It will sound very distorted and like i said before audio distortion is easy to hear.īut that's not a problem with Boom 3D. If you get a headphone amplifier, you can't turn the volume up to maximum either. It's very easy to hear when the speakers/headphones get too much power. Your speakers or headphones won't get damaged if you don't overload them. If you have an amplifier without Protection Mode, it's your job not to turn the volume up too high. You won't regret it! It's unbelievable what this application can do. Please give it a try and give some feedback so I can hear if it's just me or if you're also surprised about the abilities of this application. And then I have the main effect turned about 50% up aswell. There's several effects in the application, but I use the Fidelity effect turned about 50% up. This app will actually make your audio device sound a lot more expensive than it actually is. It's the best software "amplification" I've ever tried.įirst time I used it, I didn't believe what I heard. And now I can't hear music on my Mac without it. But I swear this application is way more than you actually could believe was possible.īut a few years ago, I stumbled upon Boom 3D. I know how many of these apps that will destroy the sound and not improve it. I've tried dozens of spatial audio applications and came to the conclusion that it was the worst crap I ever used. I have nothing to do with the company, I just wanted to discuss the application and recommend it to people who didn't know about it. Specially designed for gaming, our multi-channel 3D surround brings unmatched clarity to every game interaction." "Boom 3D is a pro audio enhancement app that has been designed to play all your media content with incredible 3D effects on ANY headphones /speakers, from any player, any media, any streaming services.
